Spring 2025 Class Descriptions
Class information
Registration for spring clay classes opens on our website on Monday, January 6 at 9:00 am.
Spring classes run for ten weeks from March 17 - May 23, 2025. Classes meet once a week for 10 weeks at our studio in downtown Kimball MN, 70 Main Street South.
Your class registration includes: class instruction, 25 pounds of clay, open studio access outside of class time, access to our common tools, pottery wheels, ware racks, slips, glazes, bisque and glaze firing. Up to two 12 x 24 kiln shelves of work are included for the 10 week class.
Additional firing costs may be incurred depending on the amount of work made. Firing costs will be calculated based on the number of 12 x 24 shelves used by each individual in our cone 10 reduction kiln. The cost per shelf is $25.
Class Descriptions
Handbuilding, Ages 10+
Tuesdays, 3:30 - 5:30 pm, $300
Instructor: Megan
Explore creating functional and sculptural forms using various handbuilding techniques, including pinching, slabs and coiling. Beginning or intermediate students are welcome in this class.
Beginning Wheel
Tuesday 6 pm - 9 pm, $350

Learn how to use the pottery wheel in this ten week class geared for beginners or students with an introductory exposure to the wheel. During this class, students will learn to create a variety of forms on the wheel including cylinders, bowls and vases. Students will also explore applying slip and glaze to the work.
Independent Study: Pouring Vessel Emphasis
Wednesdays, 6 pm - 9 pm, $350
Instructor: JD and Megan
Expand your pottery skills! This class is intended for intermediate or advanced students who want to focus independently on one or more topics in clay, with instructional support. There will be an emphasis on pouring vessels such as teapots and pitchers, but students are welcome to work on other skills as well. Both handbuilding and throwing techniques will be explored.
Introduction to Pottery: Handbuilding and Wheel
Thursdays, 10 am - 1 pm, $350

Explore both wheel throwing and handbuilding techniques. This class is designed for beginning students who are interested in a variety of ways to create handmade pottery. It would also be suitable for students with wheel throwing experience who wish to add handbuilding to their repertoire.
