July 6 - Hands on Box Workshop and Artist Talk

Functionality meets fun in this simple box design. You will learn how to throw a slab, cut and assemble a box using a template. Suitable for ages 7 and up.
This two hour hands on box workshop will be led by Nina Nabizadeh. They will give a artist talk on their work and teach participants to make a simple box.
Participants will learn how to throw a slab, cut and assemble a box using a template. The event will be from 10 am - noon. This workshop is free and open to the public. Please register for this event to reserve your spot.
About the artist:
Nina Nabizadeh is a first generation Iranian-American in Southern Vermont. They are an art educator and ceramicist with an MA from Umass Amherst and BA from Marlboro College.
Their work seeks to integrate pattern, color, and memory. They enjoy sewing and growing flowers in their spare time.
Nina is a resident artist at Maine Prairie Studio for the month of July.

Such a great offering from Maine Prairie Studios. Hearing Nina’s story and how their life experiences inform their art was powerful and inspiring. Maine Prairie had plenty of help on site that day to answer questions, help with the project and provided a fun atmosphere. Love their workshops and the community they have fostered!

This workshop featured resident artist Nina Nabizadeh, and she did an entertaining and educational presentation followed by a hands-on portion. Everyone was able to make a hand built box by the end of the workshop thanks to Nina’s skillful instruction. It’s great that Maine Prairie Studio is able to facilitate such awesome art outreach in our community!

The hands on box making class I took was so worthwhile. Nina did a great job teaching the class so people of all skill levels could understand. JD, Megan and Nina circulated around during the hands on part of the class to see if we needed any assistance and gave advice as needed. I can’t wait to pick up my finished box. Megan and JD make you feel so welcome the minute you enter the studio. I’m so glad I went and will be back!
