March 14- Artist Talk and Demonstration

This afternoon workshop is from 1 pm - 4 pm and will include a talk and demo that will explore consistency as a creative practice; not as constraint, but as commitment. From form and mark making, to branding, and how a studio shows up in the world, we’ll unpack how intentional repetition builds recognition, trust, and clarity, while still leaving room for evolution. What does your work say about you when you’re not there to present it?

The workshop will include live demonstrations of throwing, trimming, carving, and pulling handles, offering a look at how consistency shows up in process as well as in finished work. The talk will also include a brief overview of NICE NICE Kiln Service, and how service, reliability, and care are an extension of brand values and creative practice.

This workshop has a sliding scale registration fee which supports ceramic arts educational programming at Maine Prairie Studio. These events are open to the public and is designed for all ages and experience levels. Please register for this event on our website to reserve a spot.

Our Story

Creating together has always been a part of our story. We met in undergrad at The University of South Dakota in drawing class, and working together in the studio quickly became our foundation. Molly moved to Minneapolis for her Masters in Design, and Johnne joined shortly after receiving his BFA in Ceramics. Johnne has had his hands in clay consistently since then; working for local studios, apprenticeship programs, and building kilns and executing kiln maintenance. Molly’s artistic path has led her to the digital product space in User Experience, and her love for design has always been appreciative of the form. NICE NICE came to be when we combined our two loves; functional ceramics, and digital mark making. It’s truly our two halves of the whole that come together cohesively.

We purchased a home in North Minneapolis in 2021, and are renovating our detached garage to be a full working studio. We are so excited to have everything on site, and are so grateful to our friends that lent us space and gave us wings to create.
