Our Mission
Maine Prairie Studio is the pottery studio of Megan and JD Jorgenson, located in Kimball, Minnesota. Our studio aims to nurture creativity and elevate the ceramic arts through community education for rural Minnesotans. Additionally, we support local, regional and national artists through internships, apprenticeships, retreats and residencies.

This afternoon workshop will be lead by Emma Le Konrad. She will give a artist talk on her work and a hands on platter and resist design workshop. Participants will see demonstrations on throwing and decorating a platter using wax resist. Participants will be assisted in making their own platters.

"Fearless Glazing" Hands on Workshop with Colleen Riley

Do you panic when you step into the glaze room? Are you afraid to experiment beyond the single dip method of glazing? This focused mini course can help! In this hands on workshop we’ll explore a range of glazing techniques based on building
layers, including: slipwork, brushing, wax resist, stencils and trailing. We’ll work through a quick round of information gathering and glazing small test pieces.Colleen Riley will lead this afternoon workshop on 1 pm - 4 pm on March 1st. Participants will have the opportunity to try different glazing techniques on bisqued cup forms and/or tiles. Pieces will be fired at Maine Prairie Studio. In a follow-up zoom session on March 15th, we’ll analyze our results from the cone 10 firing.

"Vessels for Light" Hands on Workshop with Ashley Hise

This afternoon workshop is from 3 pm - 6 pm on March 22 and will be led by Ashley Hise. Ashley will demonstrate her techniques for altering wheel-thrown forms to create lamps and luminaires. We will also look at a variety of other ceramics artists who work with light for inspiration. A small leather-hard pot will be provided for participants to experiment with.
