    are being accepted.  We invite you to learn more about our programs by reviewing the information below.

    Maine Prairie Studio is a dynamic, educational, small, pottery studio committed to making pottery out wild clays, wood firing, teaching, encouraging and nurturing the creative spirit in the arts while fostering lifelong learning through clay and an artful living. The studio emphasizes hands-on learning by offering unique clay experiences and opportunities ranging from Open Studio Sales, Exhibitions and other events related to Maine Prairie Studio. Interns play an active role in day-to-day studios coordination, studio prep and wood kiln firing, education and outreach and public relations. 

    JD and Megan Jorgenson are local ceramic artists who live a few miles north of Kimball, MN.  This internship will offer the unique experience of assisting in all aspects of the studio work and making, loading and firing of the wood kiln in working ceramics studio, gallery and kilns.


    •Pottery Studio Internship
     Work at Maine Prairie Studio to help with day to day operation and organization of a pottery studio.

    Intern’s duties:  Interns will be responsible for assisting in all aspects of studio and kiln maintenance and to generally assist in support work necessary to the completion of a number of workshops, exhibits and shows. Tasks may range from digging and processing clay to the student making their own tools, their own clay work and learning to fire a wood kiln.  Participating in   wood firings is also pertinent.  Interns will be required to keep an updated journal or blog of activities in the studio and work towards their own solo exhibition at the end of their studies.  Students will learn specifically about the studio process and techniques. Students will learn all aspects of  running a clay studio, everything from marketing, critiques, firing, customer relations, artist statements, and how life and where the work of an artist meets.  

     

    • Website Maintenance & Social Media Internship
      Work at Maine Prairie Studio to help with Web design/Information management 

     

    Intern’s duties:  Interns will be responsible for assisting in all aspects of the studio’s website and social media updates maintenance. Students will generally assist in support work necessary to maintain our online presence. Knowledge of  mailchimp, Facebook, Jotform, Instagram, Shopify and Tiktok are a must. Interns will streamline information on Maine Prairie Studio’s online store through Etsy and balance information across all platforms. Tasks may range from taking digital images of pottery to helping with marketing and promotions for all exhibitions, sales, newsletters and classes and residencies. Interns will be required to keep an updated journal or blog of activities in the studio. 

     

    • Marketing and Promotions Internship
      Work at Maine Prairie Studio to Integrate information for events through email marketing, social sites

    Intern’s duties:  Interns will be responsible for assisting in all aspects of the studio’s marketing and promotion. Students will generally assist Maine Prairie Studio in support work necessary to maintain and update all information for the studios events.  Knowledge of  mailchimp, Facebook, Jotform, Instagram, Shopify and Tiktok are a must. Taking digital images/slides and video taking and editing is a must. Interns will streamline information on Maine Prairie Studio’s online store through Shopify and Etsy. There are a number of workshops, exhibits, classes and shows during the year. Tasks may range from taking digital images of pottery to organizing and layout of event posters and newsletters for printing, marketing and promotions for all exhibitions, sales and newsletters.  Interns will be required to keep an updated journal or blog of activities in the studio  Students will learn all aspects of  running a clay studio, everything from marketing, customer relations,  and how life and where the work of an artist meets
