August 1- Clay Stamp Making Workshop

This afternoon workshop is from 1 pm - 3 pm and will include a talk and demo that will explore making clay stamps.

Artist in residence Marian Lyndgaard will lead us in a 2 hour stamp making workshop. We will be carving a stamp from leather clay that can be used in future clay making. These stamps can be used to add texture, pattern or simply your name to your clay making. These are another great personalized tool to add to your box. Don’t forget anything you carve will need to be a mirror image, so you may want to sketch out your plan if letters are involved:)

Participants will also explore pattern with stamping on small hand built plates using pre made stamps and found objects. The plates will be fired and able to be picked up at a later date.

This workshop has a sliding scale registration fee which supports ceramic arts educational programming at Maine Prairie Studio. These events are open to the public and is designed for all ages and experience levels. Please register for this event on our website to reserve a spot.

Artist Bioography

Marian Lyndgaard is a multidisciplinary artist whose work investigates interspecies relationships as a way to challenge and soften the boundaries we place between ourselves, other beings, and the spaces we inhabit. Her practice moves fluidly between visual art, community engagement, and textile repair, driven by a desire to mend not only materials, but also the frayed connections within our social fabric.

She holds an MFA in Visual Arts from Vermont College of Fine Arts and a BA in Art from College of St. Benedict in MN focused in Studio Art and Art Education with a minor in Education. She was also honored with an CMAB/McKnight Individual Artist Award for a series of mixed media paintings. Her work has been exhibited in galleries across the United States, including the MacRostie Art Center, Sierra Arts Gallery and Landmark College. She has recently exhibited her work at Woman Made Gallery in Chicago.

Alongside her studio practice, she founded a local mending circle—an ongoing gathering to restore worn fabrics while fostering mutual support, sharing of resources and stories, and collective celebration. In a time marked by division and disconnection, this circle acts as both a literal and symbolic act of repair, rooted in care and sustainability.
