March 22- Artist Talk and Workshop
This afternoon workshop is from 3 pm - 6 pm on March 22 and will be led by Ashley Hise. Ashley will demonstrate her techniques for altering wheel-thrown forms to create lamps and luminaires. We will also look at a variety of other ceramics artists who work with light for inspiration. A small leather-hard pot will be provided for participants to experiment with.
This workshop is free and open to the public and is designed for all ages and experience levels. Please register for this event on our website to reserve a spot.
Ashley Hise biography and statement:
I’ve been fortunate to live in some beautiful natural spaces that have shaped what I create. From the lakes and rivers of Wisconsin where I grew up to the waterfall-filled mountains of North Carolina where I started with clay by teaching summer camp at a pottery studio, to the coral reefs in the Caribbean where I taught elementary school. Now in Duluth, MN, I collect materials and draw inspiration from our beautiful gichigami, Lake Superior.
